I want to extend my thanks to TD Custom Fences and the crew they sent to do our job. Bobby Gore showed up at our front door at 8:30 this morning and asked if they could do our job today, ahead of schedule, but our choice had been to work us in if they could.  We said it would be great if they could start today!

A couple of minutes later, I saw Bobby and the crew in the backyard going over what had to be done.  They had a couple of questions which I answered as soon as I was dressed and outside the house. 

Then Shane, Miguel, and Miguel's brother went to work.  I must say that this crew is the most efficient and professional fence crew I have seen in over 20 years.  They completed every segment of our multi-segment job quickly and thoroughly.  They cleaned up completely and efficiently and hauled all the "trash" with them when they were finished.

Please thank Shane, Miguel, and his brother for a job "Well Done!" and let them and Bobby we are very happy customers of TD Custom Fence and will recommend them to anyone who needs fence work done.

I wanted to take a moment to let T&D know what a great job your team did on our fence from the outset, Scott and Jack were courteous and professional. They introduced themselves and Scott walked the property with us to verify the work to be done. They arrived at the same time each day as promised and tidied up each day before leaving. When Ian interrupted the work, T&D checked in with us to see if Scott could work Saturday. He did an enormous amount of work that day, and they brought a third crew member Monday to ensure they would be able to complete the job.

Each step of the project was done in a way to minimize damage to our property and reduce inconvenience to ourselves and our neighbors. It is clear from the appearance of the finished fence and gates that the work was done with care and attention to detail. There was no cutting corners, and in spite of Ian, no compromises in a rush to get the work done.

Description of Work:

Tim Wells and his crew built a 16′ x 22′ wooden deck off the rear of my home. It is raised off the ground about 4′, and has 5 steps that are 6 feet wide with hand rails. The piers are 5″x5″, with thick deck planking. The railings are nicely trimmed out to be compatible with the Craftsman-Colonial style of my almost 100-year home. The hand rail boards are slightly beveled, like those on the front of my house.

I have wanted a nice deck off the back of our old house, but was always concerned about digging through the root systems of our towering trees. For many years I have put off this project because I didn’t feel comfortable with other contractors insisting that their auger machines wouldn’t harm the root systems. Tim Wells and his excellent crew were always careful in their hand-digging, and patient with my nervousness, even re-spacing the piers so that they would not disturb the tree roots. The materials he used were first rate. A neighbor had a new deck built only last fall, and my uprights and the planking are much thicker, and my deck seems much more proportionate to the scale of my old house, not skimpy.

Because of the way my yard is situated, I wanted the steps cut at a 45-degree angle from a corner of the deck. I also wanted the posts and handrails set in about 12″ from the sides of the steps so I would have places for potted plants without tripping over them. Tim’s crew had no problems calculating and then constructing all of this, and it looks better than I ever imagined. Other things I am happy about: there was a working foreman; they showed up on-time with all their supplies; and besides the one hour when they left for lunch, they were always working - I never saw them just standing around. The deck itself was completed in only one day - they were back early the next morning to finish the railings and trim and also to clean up. Amazing!
